Hershey, PA - (November 2005) The Benecon Group was named one of the Best Places to Work in PA during a banquet held Saturday, Nov. 29 at the Hershey Lodge & Convention Center. Benecon CEO Sam Lombardo accepted the award.
Created in 2000 by the Ridge-Schweiker administration, Best Places to Work in PA is the first award of its kind offered by a state. Today, it is a public/private partnership of the PA Department of Community and Economic Development, Team Pennsylvania Foundation, the Pennsylvania Chamber of Business and Industry, Central Penn Business Journal, and Best Companies Group.
Each year 100 companies are honored by the survey and award program, including 50 medium-sized companies with 25-250 employees and 50 large-sized companies with more than 250 employees. With 26 employees, Benecon was represented in the medium-size category.
To participate in the Best Places to Work program, companies had to meet several eligibility requirements. They had to be a publicly or privately held for-profit or not-for-profit business, have a facility in Pennsylvania with at least 25 employees, and be in good standing with Commonwealth agencies under the Governor's jurisdiction.
Companies from across the state entered the two-part process to determine the 100 Best Places to Work in PA. Part One evaluated each nominated firm's workplace policies, practices, philosophy, systems and demographics an assessment that made up 25% of the score. Part Two was an employee survey designed to measure the employee experience. Nearly 20,000 Pennsylvania employees participated. This part of the process was worth approximately 75% of the total evaluation.
The combined scores determined the top companies and final rankings. Best Companies Group managed the overall registration and survey process with assistance from ModernThink LLC, who analyzed the data and used their expertise to determine the final rankings. Winners were chosen using the same formula as the Fortune 100 Best Companies to Work for in America.
